Benefits of Membership
Generally Available to All
AAGSNC holds monthly meetings that include guest speakers, workshops, seminars and networking with other members. Meetings are generally held on the third Saturday of each month from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The meetings are held at the Dimond Branch of the Oakland Public Library, 3565 Fruitvale Avenue, Oakland, CA 94602-2326.
The Baobab Tree
The Baobab Tree is our quarterly journal. The journal includes news of AAGSNC activities, articles written by members and other contributors, tips for beginners, how-to articles, bibliographies, members’ success stories and many other valuable entries.
Members may list their surnames and contact information in the Members Online page of the AAGSNC website. This information is available to other members and all Internet users who might visit our website. The Members Online page includes the members name, e-mail address, a list of surnames and the locations being researched.*Under Construction*
Destination: Pedigree Workshops
These workshops are for members who are just starting their research or those who need more assistance than what is provided during our general meetings. They provide members with an opportunity to learn more about genealogy research techniques, give them a space to be able to get their questions answered, as well as hands on assistance with their research challenges.
Members may announce their upcoming family reunions on the web site calendar. The announcement can be made as far in advance of the family reunion date as desired by the member. Announcements will remain on the calendar until the reunion date.
Members can have their four-generation ancestor chart posted on the website. Ancestral charts provide visitors to the website with more information to help determine if they have a connection with the member's family.
Members have access to a comprehensive directory of links to genealogical resources we have found useful and collected here for your convenience. Members may add their genealogy related web site or recommend a site for addition to the AAGSNC Genealogical Resource Directory.
