Annual Genealogy Event in Elk Grove

The FamilySearch Center in Elk Grove, California, (located about 15 miles south of Sacramento) will be hosting its annual Family Discovery Day on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

The 2025 Elk Grove Stake Family Discovery Day will include:

➢ A dynamic keynote speaker,
➢ 24 family history classes,
➢ Chances to win one of six Ancestry.com DNA test kits,
➢ Activities for children and youth, and
➢ An exciting Exhibit Hall with over 30 activities, exhibits and displays, plus refreshments!

Among the classes offered in the African American Research Track, include presentations by AAGSNC members, Michael Willis and Lynette Williams. Michael will be sharing “From Slave to Soldier – Finding Civil War Records” , and Lynette will be presenting on the topic of “African American Research”. Additionally, another presentation on “How to Use Your DNA Results” with Kim Caldwell is included in the African American Research Track. Michael will also serve as the Keynote Speaker for the event.

Other classes include Ancestry.com 101 and Family Search 101 for beginners. Activities for children and youth will also be provided. You can download the full schedule at the link below.
