News from the African American Civil War Memorial Museum

The Guest Speaker for our May 2024 Monthly Program Meeting was Dr. Dawn Chitty, Director of Education at the African American Civil War Museum in Washington, D.C. At that time, the indoor exhibit at the Museum was closed to the public due to major renovations that have now been completed.

The African American Civil War Memorial Museum has issued a call for descendants of the United States Colored Troops (USCT) to participate in “The Homecoming “, an inaugural annual celebration honoring the legacy of the brave soldiers of the USCT and their families. This event for descendants is a part of the Museum’s Grand Reopening celebrations taking place the weekend of July 18, 2025. More details will be forthcoming.  You can learn more information about the reopening at the Museum website, https://afroamcivilwar.org/.
