Privacy Policy

A privacy policy for a genealogical website may appear to be a contradiction of purpose. Our very existence depends on visitors to our site sharing information about themselves and their ancestors. However, your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather, how we use it, and how to correct or change it.

Membership Database

Information stored in the AAGSNC membership database is not shared with any other entity. The membership database is used exclusively for administering the Society’s official business (contact information, membership dues, journal mailings, etc.) Where personal information about our members may appear on our website, please note that it has been published at the request of the member with his or her permission.

The AAGSNC Google Group is an online communication tool operated for the benefit of ACTIVE AAGSNC Members only. This group allows members to engage in online genealogical discussions of their choice. Benefits include: Important status updates on AAGSNC’s website content, announcements on new member benefits, meetings dates, etc., sending & receiving attached documents such as notes, flyers, genealogical event advertisements, images, etc., asking questions of fellow members, and more! All we ask is that you adhere to AAGSNC’s posting guidelines: 1) No profanity or vulgarity, 2) Disparaging other members is prohibited, and 3) All discussion topics must be genealogy-related.  New members are invited to join the Google Group. By accepting the invitation, members acknowledge that if they choose to respond to any group discussion messages, their email address will be disclosed to participants in the Google Group. All participants may exercise their option to unsubscribe from the group at any time.

AAGSNC uses an order form for customers to purchase products from our online store using a credit card. We collect the customer’s name and address for shipping purposes only. Membership registration and renewal may also be paid by credit card. Credit card information is provided directly to the credit card processor by the customer or member and is not seen or stored by AAGSNC.

Credit card processing for Affiliate Program items (books, software, etc.) is handled by the respective merchants (Amazon.com, Genealogy.com, Google, Ancestry.com etc.). All merchants use secure encryption keys to transmit information.

The AAGSNC Store uses the PayPal secure credit card processing service for items sold directly by AAGSNC (Artwork, t-shirts, etc.). Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express  are accepted. You can review PayPal’s privacy and security statements at the PayPal Security Center.

This site gives users the options to remove their information from our website or anything not outlined above. Please contact us to do so.
